Deryck has worked in the environmental sector in Scotland for 35 years, starting out as an ecologist and educator. Deryck worked extensively on training, education and volunteering, before setting up his own Environmental and Sustainability consultancy business in the mid 1990s. During this time, Deryck worked on wide-ranging research and development projects on sustainable development, environment and land management, education, volunteering, and accreditation.
Prior to joining the Trust as Head of Strategic Development in 2018, Deryck spent 14 years with greenspace scotland, leading on the organisations placemaking and climate change programmes.
Deryck is a member of the Academy of Urbanism, a Trustee of Scottish Wildlife Trust, and a Director of Natural Capital Scotland.
