Members of our team and the local community braved the elements this week to plant a tree marking the first step in creating a community woodland in Kilmacolm. Also enabled by the Queen’s Green Canopy, the tree planting ceremony preceded a walk in which community members were invited to share ideas for how this area of land could be developed to improve local access to quality greenspace and help wildlife to thrive.

The initiative to create a community woodland here follows the gifting of the land to the Trust by Buchanan Estates in 2022.

Linda McConaghie, Operations Manager at Green Action Trust, said:

“I am delighted we have been given the opportunity to take on this land to create a community woodland here in Kilmacolm. So much of our work is about improving access to nature for people, alongside creating and improving habitats for wildlife. We are looking forward to working with locals to develop a shared plan for how this space can evolve for the benefit of all.”
