Murdo is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the renewables sector. After graduation he spent 10 years designing and constructing heavy civil engineering projects largely in the rail sector before joining Scottish Hydro Electric (now SSE plc) in 1997. From 2014 he served as Director of Onshore Renewables for SSE, chairing the Executive Committee of the SSE Renewables Business Unit which delivered over 600MW of onshore assets in a two-year period, with a capital spend exceeding £300m per annum.

He retired from SSE at the end of April 2023 and now works as an independent consultant in the renewable energy sector, currently engaged on onshore wind business initiation in Spain, France, Italy and Greece.
